It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ana Jambrosic in her 97th year. Born in Jurovo, Croatia on November 4, 1929, Ana arrived in Canada with her children on May 13, 1966, beginning a new chapter 60 years ago.
Ana was a hard worker throughout her entire life. From working in the fields in Croatia to spending her years in Canada diligently working various jobs, she approached every task with strength and determination. She was best known for making her infamous soup, which fed thousands during her years involved in her family’s catering business. Deeply devoted to her faith, Ana carried her beliefs with quiet strength and unwavering devotion throughout her life.
Ana was a strong, independent woman who lived by the words, “It’s always better to help 10 people than to have to ask for help from one.” She carried this philosophy throughout her life, always giving to others with generosity, kindness, and strength.
As the matriarch of five generations, nothing brought her more joy than spending time with — and playing alongside — her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She embraced life with a joyful spirit, always ready for fun and laughter, and was always up for a game of cards (Sedmice). She had a deep passion for gardening and took great pride in her beautiful flowers. Always up for a challenge, she was prepared for anything and always finished what she started.
Loving mother of Katica Moravac (Ivan), Nikola Jambrosic (Sandy) and the late Marija Jambrosic. Cherished grandma to Maria Startek, Elvis Moravac, Nancy Diklic (John), Nickolas Jambrosic and the late Kevin Moravac. Devoted great grandma (Baba Anka) to Josslyn Zettle (Matthew), Abby Startek, Lucas and Cecilia Diklic, and Justine Moravac. Great great grandmother to Maxwell and Benjamin Zettle. Devoted sister to the late Zvonko Hlacar (Milka), and the late Nikola Hlacar (the late Dragica).
She will be missed by her nieces and nephews, and family and friends in Canada, Croatia, and Argentina. Thanks to everyone at Madison Village for their care during her stay.
