Anne Bernadette Dalzell (Pine) of Linwood passed away at home on Wednesday, 3/11/26, surrounded by her loving family.
Anne was born in Atlantic City, NJ on 3/21/30, to Zora and Ivan Pine (Pinezic’), immigrants from Croatia. She was raised in Chelsea Heights and cared for her two younger brothers while her parents worked during the Depression. She attended Our Lady Star of the Sea and Holy Spirit High School, before attending Mount Saint Mary’s convent school in New Hampshire. During a summer break, she was dominating the tennis courts at Bader Field until she met Fred Dalzell, a handsome young man from Pittsburgh, PA. She challenged him to a match and he beat her 6-0, 6-0. Her competitive nature led her to ask for a re-match the following day, but the result was no different, for he was the #1 player on Duquesne University’s tennis team. They fell in love, married, and settled in South Jersey, where they raised their 6 children. Anne worked as a stay-at-home mother until her children graduated high school. She subsequently enjoyed a long, successful career as an agent at Balsley Losco Real Estate.
Anne was a beautiful, intelligent, hard-working, fiercely loyal woman, who went out of her way to help people, especially her family. She would constantly ask, “Is there anything I can do for you?” Anne was very devoted to Saint Gerard, the Mother’s Saint, and regularly attended Eucharistic Adoration at Our Lady of Sorrows Church.
Anne is survived by her children, Fred Dalzell, (Jane), Mary Lou Hare (Steve), Stan Dalzell (Barb), Jim Dalzell (Lori), and Peter Dalzell (Annie), best friend, Maureen Scanlon, nieces, Joanie Brooks, Jamie Di Perna, Nancy Leonard, Charlene Pine, Phyllis Pine, nephew, John Pine, along with 21 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Fred Dalzell, brothers, John and Anthony Pine, and daughter Annie Dalzell.
