It is with deepest sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, dida, and tata on November 3, 2025. He died peacefully in the embrace of his family, including his loving wife of 65 years, Klara Ujevic Padjen.
Ante was a deeply religious man, who lived his life with positivity even in the most difficult times. Born and raised in his native Zagreb in February of 1942, he was a proud Croatian. Equally, he was deeply grateful for his adopted home of Canada. He genuinely loved meeting people, and was fascinated to hear about their lives and backgrounds. Once you knew him, you had a friend for life. Their home had an open door for guests, where countless hours were spent in conversation around the dining table.
Ante’s accomplishments were diverse and widespread. His greatest love was music. He was incredibly proud of being the founder and director of the I Medici Orchestra where he played the viola and lectured about the healing affect of music. He was also a man of science and medicine, having taught at the McGill school of Medicine for over 40 years. He never truly retired because he loved lecturing about personalized medicine, even when he was a patient himself.
His memory will live in the hearts of his family; wife Klara, children Iva (Stephen), Marija (Michael ) and Petar (Angie) and grandchildren Madelaine, Sophie (Simon), Charlotte, Simon, Jacob, Petar, Faith and Dara and his brother, Ivica and nephew Ivan and all his other family in Croatia.
We are blessed to have the love and support of the Blazina, Diksic, Kljajo, Klobucar, Mocnaj, Palaic and Zlobec families.
