Ante Tanfara 77 of Effort, PA passed away on Monday, January 19, 2026, at St. Luke's Hospital Monroe Campus in Stroudsburg, PA.
Ante was the loving husband of Lydia (Castro) Tanfara. They celebrated their 48th Wedding Anniversary on August 20, 2025.
He was born in Croatia on February 11, 1948, son of the late Mario and Antula (Baraka)Tanfara.
Ante had worked as a Union Painter for Stanley Miller Painting in NY, NY for many years, until retiring.
He was of the Christian faith and a member of the former New Covenant World Outreach Church in Brodheadsville, PA.
We have been blessed with the presence of Ante in our lives. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife: Lydia (Castro) Tanfara of Effort, PA, his son: Victor Sobrado-Tanfara and wife Tiffany of Effort, PA.
Ante was the loving grandfather to Malachi Sobrado-Tanfara, Tianna-Marie Sobrado-Tanfara and Caleb Ante Sobrado-Tanfara of Effort, PA.
He is also survived by a sister: Olga Govic and husband Joso of Jersey City, NJ and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents Mario and Antula, he was preceded in death by two daughters: Maria Sobrado-Tanfara and Rebecca Sobrado-Tanfaro and a brother: Kris Tanfara.
