It is with profound sadness that the Podrebarac family announces the gentle passing of this wonderful man at the age of 80 during the waning afternoon twilight of Sunday, December 27, 2020. Survived by his wife Ana of 54 years and his two sons, John and David (Sandra) and his three grandchildren Robert, Matthew and Nathan.
Also survived by his sisters Dragica Klaric and Milka Urbas and his sister-in-law Dragica Rahija. Predeceased by his father Anton and mother Marica. After trekking the Alps with a steadfast group of fellow émigrés, Anton ultimately made his way to the freedom and prosperity of Canada by way of a welcoming Germany in 1964.
For 30 years he served as a dedicated employee of International Harvester until his retirement in December of 1994. Anton soon thereafter became an avid walker, and continued so well into his late seventies; he also took frequent vacations to both Cuba and his beloved Croatia.
He will be dearly missed by many family and friends in Canada, Croatia, Slovenia and Germany. Due to the current COVID-19 lockdown, a private family service was held at Holy Cross Croatian RC Church that was in turn followed by interment at the Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery on December 30, 2020.
