It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Antonietta Djurkovic (née Di Bello), who went to her eternal rest on July 17, 2024 at the age of 93.
Antonietta was born on Feb. 13, 1931 in Metkovic, Croatia to parents, Maria and Scipioni Di Bello. She was the youngest of six surviving siblings - Luigi “Ðiði”, Catarina “Rina”, Anna “Anka”, Olivia and Maria. With her devoted husband, Vlaho, she moved to Canada in 1959.
During their marriage, they welcomed two daughters, Anna (Tomislav), and Suzy (Ross). Antonietta was grandmother to Joseph (Heather), Antonia (Zdenko), Dese (Karl), Zdenko, and Sandra (Luke) and great-grandmother to Luka, Lilith, Isaac, Elliot, Sofia, Chey and Echo. She will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by all family including Scipioni (Pera), Georg (Sofka), Marcia, Ivica (Anita), and Ivica (Anica) as well as relatives and friends from Croatia, Canada and Italy.
Above all, her strong Catholic faith and devotion to God was her guiding light throughout her life. She was a cherished and devoted member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Croatian Community, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and charity.
Antonietta appreciated simple, traditional, religious ceremonies and specifically requested no flowers, eulogies, or celebratory gatherings as part of her funeral. In lieu of flowers, Holy Mass intentions can be requested for the repose of her soul.
