Dob: 77
Antun Tomislav Beric, Tony to those who loved him, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Warren, New Jersey, on Wednesday, April 8, 2026. He was 77 years old.
Born in Croatia, Antun carried his homeland with him throughout his entire life. Although he came to America as a young man and built a life here, Croatia always remained at the center of his heart. He stayed deeply connected to its culture, its people, and its political life, and remained actively involved through his lifelong interest and personal ties there. A devout Catholic, his Croatian roots and his faith were not simply part of his story, they were part of who he was.
After arriving in the United States, Antun first lived in West New York. Following his marriage, he and his family resided in North Bergen and Hillside before settling in Warren in 1986, where he continued to raise his family and make his home for many years.
Antun began his professional life in the shipping industry, working in freight forwarding as a manager. After his company merged, he chose to venture out on his own and founded Amcro International. Over time, the business evolved into something deeply meaningful, not only to Antun, but to many in the Croatian community. Through his company, he helped fellow Croatians navigate the often difficult process of obtaining United States citizenship, visas, and necessary documentation, often assisting with translations and the preparation of important records. Working alongside his beloved wife, Lillian, Antun took great pride in being able to help others build better lives and opportunities for themselves and their families.
His dedication to his heritage extended far beyond his business. For more than 37 years, Antun was a pillar of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) in the United States, proudly serving as President of the HDZ Coordination for the USA and leading the New York branch. He dedicated himself to the dream of a free and independent Croatia, and his courageous work for humanitarian causes touched countless lives, often quietly, behind the scenes, and without the need for recognition. Whether organizing a local festival, a gala ceremony, or a charity event, Antun was always the first to step forward.
He was a man of tremendous work ethic, but also of many passions. Antun was an avid reader who was always seeking to stay informed, especially when it came to Croatian culture and politics. He loved soccer, both as a spectator and as a player in his younger years, and he had a genuine enthusiasm for cars.
Above all else, Antun was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a man who found his greatest joy in his family and in bringing people together. He will be fondly remembered for the elaborate breakfasts he lovingly prepared for those he cared about, often serving multiple courses with pride and generosity. He and Lillian enjoyed opening their home to friends and relatives, gathering for evenings filled with food, singing, dancing, and laughter. Those moments of warmth, hospitality, and togetherness will remain among the most cherished memories for all who knew and loved him.
Antun is survived by his beloved wife, Lillian; his two children, Visnja Katarina and Branimar Hrvoje; and by a host of extended family members, in-laws, and dear friends.
