It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we share the passing of Gus Kozjak, husband to Terezika and father to Justin. Born in Cakovec and raised in Benkovec, Croatia, August 28, 1941. He is predeceased by his parents Franciska and Ivan and brothers Felix, Stjepan, and Melko.
Gus had a happy childhood, loved and respected his parents, and pursued his love of music by attending music school and learning the trumpet at an early age. In 1963, he left his home and traveled to Sydney Australia where he stayed and worked as a cook in a hospital for 3 years. In 1966, he decided to join his brother Melko in Prince George and started his career as a plumber and eventually his own Business Gus' Plumbing and Heating and as a city plumbing inspector.
His love and passion for playing the trumpet continued through his life and his happiest moments were playing in a band with Henry, Ana, Metod, Stan, and was very proud of the CD they recorded in the studio.
Gus loved life, was a loving husband, father, and friend to many, found kindness in everyone, enjoyed fishing, dancing, lawn bowling, traveling, and his dog Abby.
We would like to express our deepest gratitude to all of the Northern Health staff that helped care for Gus through his battle with Alzheimer's--especially those staff at complex care, east wing of Gateway.
