Barbara passed away peacefully at Heritage Green Nursing Home on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at the age of 96.
Barbara was born in Hrasce, Croatia in 1928, and traveled to Canada with her family later in her youth. Barbara is predeceased by her older sister Mary Mudjar and brother-in-law John Mudjar.
Cherished Teta of Chris (Carol) and Gary (Lisa). Loved by her grand nieces and nephews Elleah, Brayden, Joy, Kyla, and Landon. Barbara will be fondly remembered by her extended family and friends in Canada, U.S., and Croatia.
Barbara was an employee at Stelco for over 25 years and was also heavily immersed in the Hamilton Croatian Community. She was the treasurer of the Croatian Federal Union for many years and an active member of the Croatian National Home (DOM) where her father John Lovrinic was president in the early years of the DOM, when it was still located on Beach Rd. in Hamilton. Barbara was also a member of the DOM’s bowling team. She especially enjoyed her time at the DOM watching her family Gary, Chris, Elleah, Joy, and Kyla perform in the tamburica group.
Barbara supplied much laughter and joy to her family and friends, always with a cheeky joke or simply by her smile. She shared special moments traveling throughout the years with her close friends and family, across Europe, Florida, and the Dominican Republic.
Special thank you to the staff, senior staff, doctors, nurses, and PSWs at Heritage Green Nursing Home that cared for Barbara or “Barbie” as they lovingly called her for their endless care and support over the years, the work you do does not go unnoticed. Special thanks to Emma, who volunteered her time to form a friendship and make Barbara’s life at Heritage Green extra special through her small acts of kindness.
