Barbara E. Govednik (née Putrich) passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her daughters.
Born in Chicago, Barbara grew up in Joliet, and raised her family in Romeoville with her loving husband, the late Joseph "Lefty" Govednik.
She worked many years for the Diocese of Joliet. Barb was proud of her Croatian heritage.
She is survived by her children; devoted daughter Nancy J. Govednik, Karen M. (late Richard) Nelson, Janice (Mark) Williams and Barbara (Thomas Wolf) Govednik; grandsons, Zachariah and Nathan Willett; sister, Joan (late Louis) Zbacnik; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Rutherford as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and their children.
Preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Catherine (née Jandric) Putrich; husband Joseph (Lefty) Govednik; brother, James Putrich and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
The family wishes to thank the Lightways Hospice home care staff for their professionalism and loving care they gave to our mother.
A private family service will be held in Barb's honor at a later date.
