It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Barbara Rudman (nee Petruša) on August 31, 2023. She was a beloved wife, sister and cherished member of the community. She leaves behind her loving husband Ivan, siblings, numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
Born in Croatia in 1937 to Ana and Nikola Petruša; she was the third of eight siblings. In 1960 she married her husband Ivan, sharing 63 beautiful years together. From Croatia, the two of them moved to Germany where they both found work in metal manufacturing.
They took a ship to Canada where they settled first in Halifax, then Montreal, then Winnipeg where they braved the cold together for 5 years before finally making their way to Victoria in 1969 where the wonderful weather won them over. Both Barbara and Ivan loved gardening and it was evident to others as well, as they won an award from the city of Saanich for their beautiful garden.
