Bruno Yelencovich, 74, of Boerne passed away on February 28, 2024 following a sudden illness.

Bruno was born on September 23, 1949 in Zadar, Croatia to Cristoforo and Nevenca Jelencovich. Bruno was raised in postwar Croatia and Italy. When Bruno was 6, his family moved to Vigevano, Italy. Bruno learned the value of hard work by watching his father work long hours as a carpenter. Bruno started helping his father paint houses at the age of 12. Bruno began his shoe designing career as an apprentice in Italy with the famed designer Borsani. When he was 17, Bruno's family immigrated to America to begin a new life in New York City.

Once in New York, he continued his shoe career with Andrew Geller, Giulianelli and Ferragamo, all before the age of 20. Bruno was passionate about his career. His career took him around the country and back to Italy and around the world, before settling down in San Antonio, becoming the head designer of shoes at San Antonio Shoes (SAS) from 1979-2015. He met the love of his life, Sara, in 1979 and the two remained nearly inseparable for the rest of his life.

Bruno always put his family first and was always generous with his time and affection for them. Bruno had charisma, charm, and a great sense of style. He always made people smile. Throughout his long career at SAS, Bruno's hard work and outgoing personality earned him the respect and love of many friends and coworkers. Bruno had the ability to make friends with nearly everyone, and if you were lucky enough to be close friends with Bruno, he loved you like family.

He is survived by his wife Sara Atkins, his daughter Michelle Reims, his grandchildren MJ, Mila and his son-in-law Michael, his stepsons Rick, and Eric, his grandchildren Devon and Dylan, his brother Dario Jelencovich and sister-in-law, Linda, his nieces Regina, Lauren, and Kellie, his brother Maurice Jelencovich and his sister-in-law Maria and his nephew Christopher, and niece Nives, his Aunt Maria Linic, his cousins Maristella J Kelsey and Daniela Bajlo, close friends Ken and Judy Flint and Ted and Liz Pietraszkiewic, and many other loved cousins, friends, and coworkers.
