He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Elizabeth, his son Michael (Susan) and his daughter Marianna (Daniel); grandchildren Matthew (Nicolena), Jonathan (Brooklyn), Sean, Taylor and Nicholas; and great grandchildren Marek, Luka, Riah, Archie and Lorelai. He was predeceased by his siblings Ivan, Nada, Joso, Neda, Vinko, Pere and Ana.
Dane was born in Jasenica, Croatia on July 7, 1930. He loved his family and homeland and built a house in Maslenica on the sea with Elizabeth. They spent many summers there enjoying the large Nekic family.
Dane came to Canada from Trieste in 1957 to work on the railway. He met Elizabeth in Toronto where they had their 2 children. Later in 1967, they moved to Australia, and after 6 months, back to Canada to settle in Vancouver.
Dane worked hard to support his family and taught them his work ethic and the importance of family. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and his friends playing cards and bocce. He was a valued member of the Pacific Lawn Bowling Club and played until he was 90. Everyone wanted him on their team.
