Daniel Francis Tomc (lovingly called Danny, Grandpa Dan and Papa,) age 85. Dan passed away after a long battle of Alzheimer's disease. Dan was in the care of hospice at home and surrounded by his family. Dan was cared for by his son, Daniel Bernard (Bernie) for the last eight years. Bernie dedicated his life to care for his dad, earning the title of "Our angel on earth." We are forever grateful for his loving and sustained care.

Danny was born on December 14, 1938 in Kansas City, Kansas to John and Jennie Tomc, he graduated from Bishop Ward High School. Danny married the love of his life, Karen (Pfaff) on September 17, 1960 in Kansas City, Kansas. They were married close to 63 years.

Over a period of six years they had five children. They will always remember their dad as; dedicated, faithful, fearless, humorous, successful, charismatic and most importantly, a very loving father.

Dan was named after a priest (Father Daniel Francis) that his dad befriended and admired. Dan's mom and dad were from Slovenia, so when they met Father Daniel Francis, also from Slovenia and witnessed his significant works, they wanted their second born son to be named after him.

Service was so important to Dan, so after High School he enlisted in the Air Force. He was stationed at Richards Gebaur Air Force base as a mechanic. After years of service he was granted an honorable discharge.

Dan was born to be a salesman and possessed a dynamic personality. He never knew a stranger, ever! He was a salesman for Curtis Industries and eventually owned his own franchise, Winzer Corporation. During his career as a salesman he was on 100% commission with five children, which he and Karen put through Catholic grade and high school. The commitment to their faith was an essential part to their children's Catholic foundation. Melanie, Bernie, Kevin, Kim, and Scott adopted these fundamental principles to their own lives and then their own children's lives. Dan and Karen set the tone to have their legacies live on for generations.

Dan was also as 4th Knight with the Knights of Columbus, where he served the community for years. Dan and Karen were dedicated to so many committees' within the Catholic Church. Everyone knew or knew of "Dan and Karen Tomc."

Dan is preceded in death by his parents, John and Jennie Tomc; loving wife, Karen Tomc; his son Scott Tomc; two son in laws, Bruce Lackey and Clay Adams.

He is survived by his children, Melanie (Kent), Bernie, Kevin (Elizabeth), and Kimberlie; daughter in law, Lynnie; 11 grandchildren, Michael (Taylor), Lanie (Noah), Sammy (Jordan), Alex (Maddie), Kyle (Lizzie), Jacob, Julia, Gena, Marianna, Luke, Kolbe; five great grandchildren, Lola, Hayes, Lincoln, Halle James, Arthur Scott; and beloved dog, Sassie.
