With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Darko Buric at his home, with his family at his side, on Friday, August 5, 2022 at the age of 87. Beloved husband of 65 years to Elvira (nee Mavar). Cherished father of Joseph 'Joe' (Lena Basile) Buric, Fredric 'Fred' Buric, loving Nonno of Marylee (Jeremy) Arnold and great-grandfather of Jemma and Fiona.
Darko was born in Poljane, Istria on March 1, 1935. Darko, alongside his wife Elvira, left Croatia for refuge in Italy in 1956 where they were married. Together they traveled to France were they had their two sons Joseph and Fredric. In 1969 Darko and his family immigrated to Canada arriving in Toronto, then finding their forever home in Niagara Falls. Darko worked in construction for many years, retiring at the age of 65.
He was creative and always welding one-of-a-kind wrought iron furniture and railing for family and friends. Darko had a love for everything music, he loved to sing, dance and play instruments including the accordion, clarinet, saxophone and harmonica.
One of his favourite pastimes was to go to Istria Ucka Club in Orangeville where he played bocce, sang and played music with his fellow club members. Darko took much pride in his gardens, working on them all day long. He grew his own vegetables, raspberry bushes, apple trees, figs and many, many flowers. Darko (Nonno) will be missed by his family and friends in Canada, Croatia, Slovenia and Italy.
