Davor Batistich, age 87 of Fort Lee, passed away on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
He was originally from Žrnovo, Korcula, Croatia, where he married his beloved wife, Mara, and was married for 61 years.
Davor is survived by his wife Mara, son Zlatko Batistich, his wife Ksenija and their children Mark and Robert and his daughter Nancy Shapiro, her husband Andrew, and their children Amanda and Alex. He is also survived by his brother Jakov and predeceased by siblings Ante and Jaka.
Trained as a master carpenter specializing in fine woodwork and formica, Davor worked as a supervisor at a shipyard in Croatia. After spending several years in Stockholm, Sweden, Mara and Davor immigrated to Jersey City, and moved to Fort Lee in 1974. After working at Block Drug Company in Jersey City for many years, he founded Davor's Custom Carpentry, where his loyal customers regarded him highly for his meticulous work and unmatched work ethic.
During retirement, Davor enjoyed many extended summers at his beloved seaside home in Korcula, Croatia, where he enjoyed hosting dinner parties, playing cards with the guys, and spending evenings on the balcony peacefully listening to the sea and gazing at the stars.
Davor was adored by all who knew him including granddogs, Lucy and Zoe, and many dear nieces, nephews, family members and friends. His zest for life, energy and optimism will be remembered and cherished by all of us.
