Dinko Popich, aged 85, peacefully entered into eternal rest at his home in Belle Chasse, Louisiana, with his devoted son, Joseph, family and friends by his side on December 14, 2023.

He was born on January 25, 1938, in Brijesta, Croatia, to parents Jozo and Ana Popich. Dinko was the loving husband of the late Marija Hladilo Popich and the adoring father of Joseph.

He was also the devoted father-in-law of Karen and the doting loving grandfather of Emmalyn, Kyla, Kerra, and Jacob. Also survived by his brother Drago Popich and his sweet caretaker and friend Kristen Gondrella. Dinko was preceded in death by his grandson, Dinko Joseph, his parents, his sister Marija Bozovic as well as his in-laws, Stjepo and Katica Hladilo.

A lifelong successful oyster fisherman, Dinko was a proud member of St. Patrick Church in Port Sulphur, Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Belle Chasse and The Croatian American Society in Belle Chasse. At the age of 18, he embarked on a journey from Croatia to New York, finally settling in Plaquemines Parish. Dinko's arrival marked the beginning of a life dedicated to providing for his family, working as an oyster fisherman.

Despite facing the challenges of Hurricane Katrina, which took away their home, Dinko and Marija settled in Belle Chasse, where they spent the remainder of her days together. In the past eight years, Dinko had the joy of returning home to Croatia each year, spending months with his extended family, capturing countless memories through pictures and videos, and celebrating life with numerous toasts.

Dinko frequently traveled to Houston to be with his family and share precious moments with his "little girl," Emmalyn. His infectious smile, stories, jokes, and, above all, his love, left an indelible mark on everyone he met. Dinko will be fondly remembered as a loving father, father-in-law, Dide, brother, Dundo, cousin, friend, and the remarkable man that he was.
