We announce with great sadness the passing of Dolores M. (Babyok) Vlasic, peacefully in her home on March 7, 2021.

Dolores was born in Sewickley, PA on April 11, 1931 to John Albert Babyok of Hazelton, PA and Anna Teresa Perusic of Dugace, Croatia.

Dolores, a life-long resident of Harmony Township, was a registered nurse who graduated in 1952 from the Allegheny General Hospital School of Nursing. She worked at Providence Hospital in Beaver Falls, Rochester Mental Health, performed medical exams for Prudential Life Insurance, and filled-in as the school nurse at Highland Elementary.

Dolores married the love of her life, Eugene Lee Vlasic, on January 10, 1953 at St. Veronica Church, Ambridge, PA. They had four children, seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Dolores and Eugene spent 55 wonderful years together traveling the entire continent of North America, which included a road trip through Canada to Alaska, and a trip to Hawaii. They also frequented Florida, the Outer Banks, and attended the Rose Bowl Parade to see their granddaughter perform with the Ambridge High School Band.

One of Dolores' proudest moments was volunteering for the election of JFK as part of the Beaver County Young Democrats, and traveling to Washington D.C. for his inauguration. She was also active in numerous civic organizations, including Harmony Township Civic Club, Ambridge Junior Women's Club, and the Woman's Club of Beaver Valley, of which she held the office of President in 1975, and was awarded the distinguished honor of "Woman of the Year." Dolores was also active as a United Way Volunteer, an Assistant Brownie Scout leader, a Highland School Teacher Assistant volunteer, and as a member of the Aliquippa Library Book Club and various card clubs. An avid cross-stitcher, she sold many of her creations at craft shows within the Pittsburgh area.

Dolores was a devout Roman Catholic who donated much of her time to Good Samaritan Parish (formerly St. Veronica) as a member of the choir, working at the bingos, fish fries, paczki and pierogi fundraisers, and the annual parish festival. She was a member of the Christian Mothers group and also a volunteer at St. John's of Baden as a pierogi pincher.

Family, faith and traditions were most important to her. Her Christmas Eve Slovak dinner was a family favorite. "My mother was a great listener, problem solver, and my best friend. She was a very giving person, not only with her pocketbook, but with her heart. A beautiful woman throughout her entire life." - Rebecca

Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, husband Eugene, brother John "Jack" Babyok, and daughter Marlene Vlasic.

She is survived by son James (Debra) Vlasic, daughters Rebecca (Paul) Wargo, Rachel (Thomas) Micija, grandchildren Jonathan and Kathryn Vlasic, Brandon, Bradley, and Audra Wargo, Amanda Vlasic, Annie Micija, and great-grandchildren Chloe Vlasic and Mason Wargo. She is also survived by her brother Joseph (Charlene) Babyok, sisters-in-law Mary Babyok, Mary Ann Szymoniak, Isabel Caul, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend their thanks to the Allegheny Health Network Hospice nurses Amber and Amanda, and aide Karen, for their compassionate care these past few months.

Friends and family will be received from 4-7 pm on Thursday, March 11 at Kasper-Hahn Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., 547 8th Street, Ambridge, PA. , 724-513-8229, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 12 at 10:30 AM in the Good Samaritan Parish, Ambridge.
