A lifetime of making irresistible chocolate chip cookies, spaghetti sauce, sauerkraut and blitva, her love and compassion for family and friends, and making sure everyone was safe, fed and loved symbolizes the foundation of who Draga was and how she treated people.

She spent her 94th year in a valiant battle with cancer defying the odds but ultimately succumbing to the disease on December 11, 2020. In her waining weeks, she expressed her special thanks and love to the Baywood Court Senior Community, Kaiser hospice nurses, the caregivers from Visiting Angels and her beloved family for being so supportive of her situation and their unending love.

Draga was born to parents Vladimir Martinovic and Ivana Lisica on March 18, 1926 in the small island town of Kukljica, Croatia. After living through the devastating destruction of her town and enduring personal tragedies brought on by World War II, she immigrated to New York in 1954. She soon moved to San Francisco where she met her future husband, Joseph Viskovich. They married in 1956, moved to Oakland and started their family. Once her children started school, Draga went to work for the Oakland School District and spent 18 years cooking lunches for school children.

For the last 45 years, Draga lived in Castro Valley where she welcomed her brother and many other relatives from "the old country" to stay with her family. Draga was also a favorite with the kids in the neighborhood with a treat and a smile. Most recently, Draga was an active resident at Baywood Court Senior Community.

Draga was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joe and her sister Maria. She is survived by her son Greg Viskovich (Susan) of San Ramon, CA; and daughter Teresa Pahl (Patrick) of Hillsborough, CA; along with her grandsons Christopher Pahl, Aaron Pahl, and Alex Pahl; granddaughter Carrissa Pahl, and her great-grandson Luka Pahl who always brought the biggest smile to Draga's face. She is also survived by her brother Ante Martinovich (Croatia) and several nieces and nephews who reside in the United States and Croatia.

Private services will be held at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery. You may honor her memory with donations to the Alameda County Community Food Bank.
