Frances Rosalie Jalsevac Hanich, 93, of Chambers Hill died Wednesday, March 17, 2021 in her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was a retired employee of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Harrisburg, including a position with The Catholic Witness, and was a former employee of Bell Telephone. She was a member of the former St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, Enhaut, a member of Prince of Peace Roman Catholic Parish, Steelton and St. Lawrence Lodge No. 13, Croatian Fraternal Union.
Francie loved going to picnics and celebrations. She knew all of the Croatian people in Steelton, enjoyed her trips to Knoebels Park, and loved SUDOKU. She was well-known as a daredevil. Francie looked forward to her annual trip to Wildwood, NJ with her Ladies Gang for many years.
Francie was the daughter of the late Anton and Catherine Kurpis Jalsevac from Croatia and was the youngest of 13 children. She was the widow of Frank M. Hanich, Sr., her late husband of 72 years. She is survived by one son, Frank M. Hanich, Jr. and one daughter, JoAnne Hawley, both at home; two granddaughters, Kristen Hawley King (Ryan) of San Francisco and Karen Holloway (Matthew) of Harrisburg; and five great-granddaughters, Ada Frances and Rosalie Grace King; Alena Rosalie, Adriana Michaela and Mia Skye Holloway.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at 11:00 amin Prince of Peace-Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, 815 S. Second St., Steelton with Very Rev. David L. Danneker, her Pastor, as Celebrant. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Swatara Twp. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 9:30 am until 10:30 am in Wiedeman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 357 S. Harrisburg St., OBERLIN.
Current COVID-19 restrictions will be enforced. Face masks and social distancing will be required.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children''s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
