Reunited in heaven with his beloved wife Eva. Loving father of Kathy (Domagoj), and John (Maria).
May he be the guardian angel to his grandchildren, Vesna (John), Lidia (Tomi), Kristina (Todor), Valeria, Mariana (Gabriel), Josie, Frank, and Daniella.
Franjo’s life was one filled with love for his family, his many friends, and for those whose lives he touched. He was a man of few words but when he spoke he did so with authority, wisdom and humour. He lived an intentional life based on a code of duty, family and hard work.
He found joy in music. He played the accordion and sang from the heart. There were many gatherings with him serenading the family with Croatian songs. When his adult granddaughters asked to learn how to play the accordion, he proved to be a patient teacher.
Franjo attributed his good health and long life to his dietary regimen consisting of eating beef liver and a head of garlic often for a strong heart and healthy blood. When he visited the doctor’s office for one aliment or another, he considered the medications prescribed as a “good suggestion.”
His resiliency and strength of character reverberated throughout his storytelling. From his childhood and youth spent in the modest village of Magic Mala, Croatia; to serving as a soldier in WW2; and, working in the uranium mining towns in Saskatchewan - his captivating stories created smiles, laughter, tears, and inspiration for his family.
He lived with a warrior's spirit and left this world with a soft smile as he took his last breath.
He will be forever missed.
