Frank Anthony Svet

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Frank A. Svet Jr., a remarkable electrical engineer, talented accordionist, and devoted family man, who passed away on July 14, 2024, at the age of 77.

Frank was born on September 25, 1946, in Cooperstown, New York, to Slovenian and Croatian immigrants, Frank and Millie (Krish) Svet Sr. His early years were marked by a deep appreciation for his cultural heritage and a budding love for music. At the age of seven, Frank began playing the accordion, a passion that would stay with him throughout his life, both casually and professionally.

Frank's academic journey led him to the Rochester Institute of Technology, where he earned a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering. His illustrious career in technology and innovation was highlighted by a series of rail industry patents, advancements in radio and television broadcast technology, breakthroughs in instrumentation and pressurization, and pioneering work in hydrogen fuel cell technology. His contributions to the field were vast and varied, leaving a lasting impact on many industries.

Outside of his professional life, Frank was an adventurer at heart. He found joy and freedom as a general aviation pilot, often taking to the skies with his beloved wife, Marilyn. Together, they traveled the globe, exploring new horizons and creating cherished memories. Their shared love for adventure and exploration was a testament to their deep bond and unwavering companionship.

Frank is survived by his loving wife Marilyn, his daughters Marie Svet and Tina Melton, and his grandchildren Matthew, Kaley, Dillon, and Annette. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Millie Svet Sr., and his sister, Frances (Svet) Wesley.
