After a long illness passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends who loved her. She is now reunited with her husband Josip (2006). Loved and adored by only son Jake and his wife Debbie. Also survived by brother Ivan Rafajac. Predeceased by brother Miśo and Sister in Law Barbara Rafajac.
Helen came to Canada in 1967 and settled in Hamilton first working as a seamstress alongside her husband Joe who was a tailor at Cambridge Clothes. Her real passion was for cooking, working at different bakeries before settling at the main plant of Denningers in Hamilton where she retired proudly with over 25 years of service. Her potato salad will be missed by everyone. Helen’s other passion was for gardening where she would spend from sun up to sun down pouring love into creating the most beautiful pallet of colour that was the envy of the neighbourhood.
Thankful for lifelong friends Antun & Duśanka Kolarić, who made daily phone calls and visits as well as Duśanka who held her hand until the end. The Lalic family for endless hours of laughter on the phone. Slavica Dilber & family who also held her hand and always offered help before a phone call could even be made followed many hours passed on the front porch with cookies and coffee.
Words cannot express how grateful we are for Kinzi Lehigh for her love, compassion and for helping Helen pass peacefully.
