It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ivan Domitrovic on June 18th, 2023, at the age of 93.
Born on May 13, 1930 in Croatia, Ivan had a long, full life. In 1957, he married his beloved wife Zlata, and the two formed a powerful partnership that lasted 50 years until her death. They welcomed four children together: Edward (Debbie), Barbara (Michael), Marilyn, and Susie (Mark).
Together, the couple had twelve grandchildren and twenty-four great-grandchildren.
Ivan and Zlata fled Yugoslavia to Austria in 1958, where their eldest son Edward was born.
A short time later, Ivan and his family emigrated to Canada and began their life in Kirkland Lake, working in the mines until 1965. Ivan then moved to Kitchener and, in 1968, opened his own business, ID Cement Construction. He moved to Bloomingdale in 1972, where he ran his business until 1995 when he retired.
Edward took ownership of the business in 1995 and will pass it down to his son Stephen when he retires. Ivan and Zlata moved to Waterloo in 1995 and remained there until January 2023, when he moved to University Gates.
Ivan passed away peacefully there, surrounded by the immense love of his family. He will be remembered with immense love and fondness for years to come.
