Captain Ivan I. Coric was born in Dubrovnik, Croatia the son of the late Ilija and Kate Coric. He is survived by his loving wife Maria and was a wonderful father to his daughter Katia and son Maro. A sea captain who sailed the four corners of the world before settling in Canada where he worked in all aspects of Montreal's maritime community, he was widely considered as an expert in maritime matters at large. He was the founder and President of Argosy Maritime Inc. and served as an adviser to a long list of both local and international ship-owners. He was a member of the Canadian Maritime Law Association, Association of Maritime Arbitrators of Canada, and Croatian Maritime Law Association as well as acted as a Commissioner of Oaths. He also provided advice to the Government of Croatia concerning its maritime borders and acted as a liaison to facilitate the recognition of Croatian independence during the 1990s. A bon vivant with a wonderful sense of humour, he will be deeply missed by a long list of friends from Canada and abroad.
