It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ivan Lajtman, a beloved husband, brother, uncle, Kum (Godfather) devoted son and brother-in-law and extended family on his wife’s side, and friend who left us peacefully on December 27, 2024. Ivan’s love and presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Ivan was born in Selnica, Medjimurje, Croatia to Aleksije Lajtman✝️ and Terezija (Novinic)✝️. He was lovingly named by his Vujcek Otac Miroslav Novinic✝️ after St. John of God. He came to Canada to reunite with his brother, Franjo in 1966 and shortly after met the love of his life, Marian (Rang) along with her parents Nicholas Rang✝️, Anna Marie (Geist)✝️ and brother Philip Rang✝️. Ivan and Marian had a baby son Paul✝️ who is an angel in Heaven
Ivan was a loving and supportive husband to his wife, Marian, with whom he shared a life full of love, laughter, travel and cherished memories. Ivan was a successful business owner as a machinist. He is predeceased by his older sister Bernardica Lajtman✝️ and his younger sister Ruza Lajtman✝️.
The rest of his siblings from Canada, Croatia and Slovenia will miss him greatly. Franjo (Anna) Lajtman, Marija (Mate) Devcic, Julija (Joe) Brozic, Anton (Katarina) Lajtman, Martin (Laura✝️) Lajtman, Terezija (Andrej) Kovac, Branko (Vesna) Lajtman, and Josip Lajtman. Ivan will also be greatly missed by his many nieces and nephews.; Linda (Gus) Garrido, Sonia(Sebastian) Balet, Edward (Sandra) Devcic, Miroslav Lajtman, Ljiljana (Mladen) Hozjan, Carmen (Fergus) Brozic, Milena (Neven) Novak, Aleks (Bridget) Lajtman, Mihael (Anita) Lajtman, Emil Brozic, Jana (Marko) Lipuzic, Vladimir (Marija) Lajtman, Andrea Kovac, Leopold (Monika), Izabela (Sasa) Jantol, Aleksandra (Aljosa) Jordan, Diana Lajtman, Miriana Lajtman and Alan Lajtman. His great and great-great nieces and nephews will also miss knowing him: Arianna (Eric) and Julia Godin, Lilian Balet, Bernadette Lajtman, Stefan Hozjan, Max Brozic, Ana Novak (Dino), Franjo and Tara. Viktoria Balet, Siobhan Lajtman, Karla Lajtman, Ozana Novak, Gabrijel Lajtman, Rafael Lajtman, Benjamin Lajtman, Isabella Garrido, Alejandro Garrido, Gabrijel Jantol, Lea Jantol, Anze Lipuzic, Zana Lipuzic, Nicholas Devcic, and Tereza Lajtman.
Ivan’s family was his greatest treasure, and he will be remembered for his unwavering devotion, gentle spirit, and the warmth he brought to all who knew him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his loved ones forever.
