John, and most of his family arrived in Vancouver in 1962 when he was 13, from Croatia. They came to join his father who had arrived three years earlier.
John had an enduring passion for motorcycles; he got his first one in his mid-teens. He delivered newspapers to help pay for it.
John worked for years as a Steam Engineer at a pulp and paper mill. He owned a house in the Squamish area during that time. Another one of his jobs that he spoke fondly about was working as a steward on a Charter Yacht one summer, sailing to Haida Gwaii.
He had been married for many years, but chose to be single again in the mid 20-tens.
John will be missed by his brother and family, cousins in New York and Croatia, and his friends.
