He was born in Kvarte, municipality of Perušić, Croatia on December 13, 1945 to Nikola and Ana Ojurovic, and was the oldest of six children. Ivan came to Canada on January 21, 1972 where he met his wife, Jurka. Ivan and Jurka built an exceptional life together in Canada and had two children, daughter Mary and son Nikola. Ivan was a devoted father and husband, he worked very hard for his family, always ensuring that everyone was taken care of.
Ivan never had a dull moment; he enjoyed his retirement by making his own smoked meats and wines, gardening, playing the accordion and singing. He was a kind hearted, friendly, humorous and passionate man who made friends everywhere.
Ivan will be missed greatly by his wife, Jurka; daughter Mary (Renato) and son Nikola (Jennifer); his grandchildren: Jordanna (Krisztian), Julia, Zoran, Ana, Tijana, his great-grandson Dominik; his sisters, Marija and Ana; his brothers Joso, Marko and Nikica; and extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 29, at 7:00 pm at the Chapel at Ocean View Funeral Home (4000 Imperial St) in Burnaby. A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, December 30 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Croatian Parish (3105 E. 1st Avenue) in Vancouver, followed by the Committal Service at 12:00 pm in the Garden of Hope at Ocean View Burial Park.
