Ivan Sajcic passed into the arms of his beloved Savior on Thursday, September 3, 2026, in Sarasota, Florida, after a long and courageously fought health battle.
Ivan was born on October 31, 1945, in Požega, Croatia, to the late Ivan Sajcic and Jelisaveta Sajcic (née Mike).
A kind, hardworking, and generous man, Ivan spent his life using his considerable talents to serve others. He was a true craftsman who worked with his hands throughout his career.
He was well known both for his remarkable skill and his belief that anything worth doing was worth doing well.
Ivan was always willing to help someone in need. If there was something he could build, repair, paint, or otherwise make better, he would readily set aside what he was doing and lend a hand. He never sought recognition; helping others was simply part of who he was.
He was also a gifted gardener with an especially green thumb. Plants-and particularly orchids-that were struggling had a way of disappearing from his children's homes and reappearing under his expert care, where they usually flourished.
In his later years, Ivan was known for his jovial spirit, warm smile, and frequent reminder: "Don't worry, be happy." His family will remember those words with both affection and a smile.
Above all, Ivan was a man of deep Christian faith. His faith guided the way he lived, worked, loved, and served, and his family finds comfort in knowing that he is now at peace in the presence of the Lord he faithfully followed.
Ivan is survived by his beloved wife, Iren Sajcic (née Der); his son, Robert (Martha Connell) Sajcic; his daughter, Silvia (Michael) Stillion; and his sister, Adela Horvat.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Emilia Sajcic, and her husband, Laslo; and his brother-in-law, Tibor Horvat.
Ivan was laid to rest on Friday, September 11, 2026.
His family will remember him for his skilled hands, generous heart, joyful spirit, and
unwavering faith. His legacy lives on in every person he helped, every lesson he taught, and every life made better by his kindness.
