Preminula:28.03.2026. (Oakville, Ontario, Kanada)

Dob: 89

Ivanica Vukosa (née Custic) was born on August 29, 1936, in Briševo, Zadar, Croatia, to her loving parents, Petar Custic and Šimića Boavac. As the eldest of eight children, she carried a quiet strength and deep sense of responsibility from a young age—qualities that would shape her throughout her life.

Fate stepped in one day as she walked home from a cement job, when she met her future husband, Mario Vukosa, through a mutual friend. Mario knew instantly that Ivanica was the one. After a short but meaningful courtship, they were married in Zadar and soon welcomed their first daughter, Senka.

Their journey together took them from Croatia to Italy, where they lived for two years, before bravely emigrating to Canada in search of a better life. After some time in Edmonton, they welcomed Rosanda and Nenad, and later moved to Toronto, where they completed their family with the arrival of Mirela.

Ivanica was a woman of incredible resilience, strength, and devotion. She worked as a housecleaner and cook, with her final role at Cara Kitchens, always contributing wholeheartedly to support her family. She found joy in life’s simple and beautiful moments—being in nature, tending to her garden, cooking (her pizza was a family favourite), and caring for her home. Her hands were rarely still, always nurturing something or someone.

In her later years, she cherished her summers in Croatia, returning every year after retirement to soak in the sun, work in her garden, and reconnect with the place she held so close to her heart.

Ivanica will be remembered for her strong spirit and her tireless desire to share life lessons shaped by hardship, perseverance, and unwavering loyalty to family. She was immensely proud of her six grandchildren and found endless joy in watching them grow into the people they are today. Nothing made her happier than being surrounded by her family.

She missed her beloved husband, Mario, dearly. After six years apart, she peacefully reunited with him in the early hours of Saturday, March 28th.

She will be profoundly missed, forever loved, and always remembered.

With heartfelt gratitude, the family would like to thank her devoted caregivers, along with her daytime support workers, for their compassion and care. A special thank you as well to her kind neighbours, whose thoughtful visits, warm words, and acts of kindness meant so much.
