Ivica (Vrljić) Miličević, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Friday, December 11, 2020, in Redwood City, California, at the age of 63.

Ivica was born on August 25, 1957 in Risovac, a quiet valley in the Čvrsnica mountain range of Herzegovina. She spent her childhood tending to her flock of sheep in the grassy plains around her home. After a few years in Stari Slatinik, Croatia, where her family still lives, Ivica left on an unexpected adventure to the United States. She met her husband, Nedjeljko, in Cleveland, Ohio, and they later settled in Redwood City, California.

Ivica was blessed with many gifts and talents, but her greatest role was that of being a mother to her four daughters. Through her graceful example, she instilled in them her considerate nature, love of learning, creativity, an eye for beauty, and most importantly, a deep faith in God. As anyone who met her knows, Ivica was a compassionate listener whose caring words often brought peace and comfort. She treasured her role as "Baka" (grandmother) to her granddaughters - her "bakino zlato" - whom she adored. Creating a beautiful and loving home with God at the center, Ivica was the absolute heart and soul of her family.

Ivica was also beloved by her community, especially the local Croatian Catholic parish. Committed to living a life in service to others, she actively volunteered her time and skills to her daughters' schools and various local church parishes. With a talent and passion for baking, Ivica was famous for her Croatian "kolači" (desserts), which were the highlight of every Christmas, bridal and baby shower, and church gathering.

Ivica had an innate intelligence which was reflected in the many accomplishments of her life. All who met her were also taken by her natural and stunning beauty, elegance, welcoming nature, and gracious presence. Most importantly, Ivica will be remembered by all for her kind and generous heart, her pure and beautiful soul.

Ivica is preceded in death by her parents, Ana and Karlo Vrljić. She is survived by her husband, Nedjeljko; daughters Katarina, Jelena, Kristina, and Marija; sons-in-law Vince and Patrick; granddaughters Viena, Mila, and Vera; sister Marina Magdić; brothers Marinko, Mirko, Miroslav, and Ivan Vrljić; uncle Leo Ljubić; aunt Nada Rotim; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and relatives spread throughout the world, from California, Arizona, and Ohio to Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Austria, and Germany.

Due to the most recent San Mateo County mandatory Stay-At-Home Order, a private service will be held for immediate family members only on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at 9:30am PST (Pacific Standard Time). We ask that you join us in spirit to pray the rosary for the repose of Ivica's soul at this time.

Ivica will be laid to rest in Gates of Heaven Catholic Cemetery in Los Altos, CA. Sometime in the future, Ivica will return home to Croatia, which will be her final resting place.

We will be hosting a "Celebration of the Life of Ivica Miličević " once COVID restrictions are lifted so that family and friends can come together in prayer, love, joy, and remembrance for the beautiful life that Ivica led. Details to follow. In the meantime, please share your loving memories of Ivica with us here.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that you please make a donation to the charity "Mary's Meals" in memory of Ivica Miličević.
