Jerry Ignatz Zorko age 91, of Tarzana, California passed away peacefully at
his home, following a stroke and seizure disorder. Jerry was born in Croatia, Yugoslavia on January 25, 1931. He heroically escaped Yugoslavia to Greece in 1953 and lived there for 5 years. He emigrated to Sweden in 1958. In 1960, he came to California.
He met his devoted wife Marita on the beach, and they were married in Santa Monica in 1964. He began his career in the Optical business which he enjoyed until he retired a few years ago. He was a member of a local Hellenic Organization and held several positions including President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer.
Jerry is survived by his wife Marita Zorko, two daughters Dionee Zorko and Anissa Vinciguerra (Dr. John Vinciguerra III), along with many relatives in Croatia and Germany.
Jerry is loved by his family and friends dearly. He was the best husband and father one could have ever hoped for. He was a dear uncle, brother-in-law, cousin and friend who loved his family and friends with all this heart. He was the nicest person you could ever meet, always was positive, always saw the best in everyone, helped whomever he could help and a loving man. He was intelligent, charming, full of laughter and always joking. He enjoyed going to the beach and traveling with his wife and family. He had a special bond with his grand dog Emma. He also enjoyed playing the violin and guitar. He was proud to be the oldest living Zorko.
He was multilingual, speaking English, Croatian, Greek and Swedish to name a few. He had an extensive knowledge of history which he loved to share with others. He made a lasting impact on those around him and will forever remain in our hearts.
