With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved John Peter Katic on October 16, 2025, at the age of 79. Born August 1, 1946 on the island of Lastovo, Croatia.
John’s early life was marked by many changes, escaping from the only life he knew taking refuge in Italy, staying for three years until his family was welcomed into America. He lived the greater part of his youth in Fort Lee, New Jersey. In 1967 he traveled to Inglewood, California to attend college at Northrop Institute of Technology, meeting his wife along the way. Playing guitar was a constant in his life during this period.
John and his wife owned and operated “Adco Electronics” for 37 years.
John’s love of the water was reflected throughout his entire life. His passions were boating, fishing and building two homes, one on the river the second one on the ocean in Fort Bragg, California. John was the rock of our family. All seemed right with him at the helm.
John and R. Michele Katic were married in 1969 and shared 57 wonderful years together. They raised two Daughters, Sonya Anne Gotts and Jennifer Kathryn Katic, and their family grew to include grandchildren Alli, Anisa, Matt, Ivan, C.J., and his Great-Grandchildren Olivia, Ayden, Ethan and Stetson. He was preceded in death by His Mother, Maria Katic, Father, Kuzma Katic, and brother Frank Katic.
Above all John loved his family. He was the happiest when they were near him. John’s gifts of love, strength, and protection will live in our hearts forever.
A private family memorial will be held on November 1, 2025, where family can privately gather to mourn and celebrate the life of our John.
