Johnnie T Basta, 86, passed away June 15, 2021. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Irene; children Tammy (Anthony) Langloss, Mike (Alison) Basta; 5 grandchildren Lincoln, Fairlayne, Maverick, Samantha, Melanie; sister-in-law Marie Hodges, numerous nieces and nephews; and his fur babies Shelby, Dweezel, and BooBoo whom he loved playing with and feeding treats.
He served in the army flying airplanes and later in the Naval reserves. He worked at CF&I for nearly 40 years before retiring as a chemical engineer He enjoyed reading his Bible, watching classic movies and westerns, listening to classical music, taking his dogs for walks, being outside and driving in the mountains.
Some of his favorite destinations were Elitch‘s, Lakeside Amusement Park and Mother Cabrini Shrine. He was an avid musician and loved playing his piano and mandolin. Johnnie loved so many things including fall colors, classic cars, his fruit trees, roses, feeding ducks at the park, cherry pie, Pepsi, Slovenian and German foods which were mostly cooked at home. When he did go out to eat, he wanted it to be with the entire family.
Johnnie had a big heart and would never judge anyone. He will be missed by all who knew him. Johnnie was preceded in death by his parents whom immigrated from Yugoslavia and were of Croatian decent, Mike and Anges; brothers Robert and George; and sisters Mildred and baby Zora.
