Joseph “Joe” Ivin, 81, passed away on Thursday December 30, 2021. Born in Zadar Croatia, he moved to the United States in 1968, and brought his wife and two children over to join him in 1971.
While Joe was very proud of his Croatian heritage, he loved America and was proud to live the American dream. He worked tirelessly as a union painter, at times seven days a week, to ensure his family a better life.
Joe had a friendly, playful, and outgoing personality. A resident of Jersey City for 53 years, he walked his neighborhood daily stopping to talk to friends and strangers alike and putting smiles on people’s faces.
Joe enjoyed raising and flying pigeons and could often be found in his yard taking care of them. He was an avid sports fan who watched his local teams compete on a nightly basis.
Most importantly, Joe was a devout family man whose greatest joy came from being with his beloved wife of 62 years Stefa, and the strong and loving relationships he had with his children, grandchildren, and daughter in-law.
Joe is survived by his wife Stefa Ivin, his daughter Silvana Amar, his son Bernard and his wife Karen Ivin, his grandchildren Enver Vucetaj, Stefanie Ivin, Joseph Ivin, Nicole Ivin, and Sindey Amar, and great grandson Thaddeus Vucetaj. He was predeceased by his cherished granddaughter Sophia Vucetaj in 2007 and his brother Ante in May of 2021.
