Peacefully, after a courageous battle with cancer, our dear Joža passed away on Monday, March 1, 2021 in his 64th year surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband and best friend of Štefica for 26 years. Cherished father of Dalibor (Sandra) Marijanovic. Proud and loving Deda of Isabella and Anthony.
Josip was born on March 7, 1957 in Mišinci, Croatia and is predeceased by his parents Nikola and Marica Podrebarac. He is reunited in Heaven with his older brother and best friend Nikola.
Cherished brother-in-law to Vesna Podrebarac and Anica (Ivan) Jurincic. He will be missed by his nieces and nephews Nicolette (Ignacio), Steven (Amanda), Michael (Gordana), Julie (Mijo) and all their children. Joža will be sadly missed by his loving family Ljubica (Drago) Feric, Danica (John) Prušic, Rudy Ambrošic, dear Kumovi and great life-long friends. A proud and humble man, Joža will be lovingly remembered for his kind spirit and big heart.
In accordance with the regulations of the Bereavement Authority of Ontario due to COVID-19, all events are restricted to a specified number of attendees.
Please RSVP in advance by calling 905-547-1121. All visitors are asked to remain in their vehicles until their allotted time. Visitors are also required to wear a face covering and practice social distancing.
Friends and family are invited to the MARKEY-DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 1774 King Street East (at Kenilworth) on Thursday, March 4, 2021 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Due to current health regulations, a livestream of Josip's funeral mass will be available to view on Friday, March 5, 2021 at 10 a.m. by logging on to Holy Cross Croatian Church Facebook page.
A private interment will take place at Our Lady of the Angels Cemetery. If desired, memorial contributions to Holy Cross Church would be appreciated by Josip's family.
