Sister M. Justina Delonga, 81, of the Daughters of St. Francis of Assisi in Lacon, passed into eternity on Tuesday, June 28 at Lacon Rehab and Nursing in Lacon, IL with loved ones at the bedside.
Born in Kosute, Croatia on August 17, 1940 to the late Blaz and Iva Delonga. She entered the Congregation of the Daughters of St. Francis of Assisi in American Province on September 8, 1989. She professed her perpetual vows on September 8, 1992.
Sister Justina graduated from the Catholic Distance University Paeonian Springs, Virginia with her Catechetical Diploma. She taught CCD in Lacon from 1990-1991 and in Princeville from 1992-1994. She also earned a Diploma in Child Day Care from Child Day Care, International Correspondence School, Scranton, PA. In addition, Sister Justina worked tirelessly in Davenport, IA, St. Francis Hospital in Mt. View, MO, and later St. Joseph Nursing Home in Lacon, IL, as a faithful Certified Nurse's Aid for over 30 years.
Sister Justina, a Daughter of St. Francis of Assisi for over 61 years, impacted those around her through her deep continuous prayer life. She celebrated her 50h Anniversary of vows in 2013.
Sister Justina is survived by her sisters in Christ in the Daughters of St. Francis of Assisi at the Mother House in Lacon, her sister Angela and brother Jakov Delonga, of Australia. She was preceded in death by her brother Stipe Delonga.
