On May 2, 2021 Mrs. Katarina Bajda, age 93, peacefully entered through the gates of Heaven after a brief illness.
Katarina was born in Vinkovci, Croatia to the late Franjo and Katarina Suhomeli. She and her late husband Fred immigrated to the United States in 1950. They made their home in Bridgeport, until retiring to Florida in 1987. Katarina’s love, thoughtfulness and compassion were effortless. She greatly enjoyed knitting and was always happiest when she finished a project for her beloved family. She was an avid and eclectic reader. There was never a book or an author she did not admire. Katarina and her sister, Marija enjoyed traveling with several trips to Europe and Australia. She was pre-deceased by her loving husband of thirty-eight years, Onufrij (Fred) Bajda.
Left to cherish her memory is her sister, Marija Hul, niece, Irene and Robert Paige, nephews, Myron and Natalie Hul, Eugen and Kathleen Hul, and Andrew and Patricia Hul. Her goodness and legacy will live on and be honored by her grandnieces and grandnephews, great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews, and a great-great-grand-nephew.
Friends may visit with her family on Friday, May 7th from 9-11 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford. A prayer service will take place at 10:45 a.m. Interment will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Stratford.
Everyone in attendance must follow the current Covid-19 guidelines; wear a mask and practice social distancing.
