Katherine Vicarel

Katherine F. Vicarel, born July 13, 1924, entered heaven on Dec. 10, 2020 at age 96. Born in Youngstown to immigrant parents from Croatia, she lived most of her life in Cuyahoga Falls.

She graduated on time from Youngstown East High School despite a lost year battling a respiratory illness in grade school, maintaining straight A's throughout her schooling. She worked in the computer department at US Steel during WWII and married her high school sweetheart soon after the war ended.

Over the years her interests included Bridge, puzzles, painting Santas, bus trips around the country, reading, sewing and, most especially, spending time with family and friends. She was a devout Catholic and a longstanding member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. If we learn the true meaning of love, devotion and sacrifice from our mothers, Kay couldn't have instilled these values in her five children any better.

She will be greatly missed by everyone she touched. She was predeceased by her parents, Anton and Katarina Palyan: her sisters: Ann (Michael) Yobe, Barbara (John) Kukura and Elizabeth (Alex) Zordich and her beloved husband of 45 years, Louis. She leaves to cherish her memory her sister Mary (Nicholas, deceased) Botsko; daughters, Karen and Nancy (John) Ferrato; sons, Kenneth (Shirl, deceased), Thomas (Terri) and David (Jennifer); 10 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

As no services will be held at this time, memorial contributions can be made to Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 2859 Lillis Dr., Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44223. (REDMON, STOW, 330-688-6631).
