Kathryn 'Kay' Audrey (Yurkovich) Mihalik of Aliquippa, Pa., passed away peacefully at Good Samaritan Hospice at Heritage Valley on Thursday, December 10, 2020.

Kay was born on August 14, 1938, in Aliquippa, Pa. After graduating from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia as a Registered Nurse, she lived in Pennsylvania, New York, California, Florida and Texas, before returning home to Pittsburgh. She was a member of the Roman Catholic Church and the Croatian Social Club in Aliquippa.

Kay is survived by her daughters, Jennifer (Scott Roeh) Mihalik and Kara (Levi Stone) Mihalik; dearest granddaughter, Gabbi Stone, who will miss special times with her Bubbi; sister-in-law, Dee Yurkovich; brother- and sister-in-law, Andy and Virginia Mihalik; beloved nieces and nephews, Paula Yurkovich, Patti (Brett Berman) Yurkovich, Jan (Scott) Irons, John Yurkovich, Rick Mihalik, Carol (Jerry) Olson, Mary (Tom) Marshall, A.J. Mihalik, Sherry (Wayne) Wilkin and Judi Heathcock; lifelong friends, Rita Hrubovcak, Pauline Johnston and Phyllis Miller; 'gossip girls' Jeane Kashiwsky and Joanne Vukmaravich; and her protective companion, Loki.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Mihalik; parents, Adam and Catherine; brothers and sisters, Anne, Mary, Nick, John, Paul, Joseph and infant Mary; and many cherished family and friends.

Kay's family sends unending thanks to her fellow nurses Amanda Estermeier, Kevin Myers and Denise McKenzie, who so graciously supported her in her valiant battle against the COVID virus. Their bravery, compassion and strength cannot be overstated.

A private service will be conducted by Kay's friend, the Rev. Philip Bottomley, on Sunday, December 13, at Prince of Peace Anglican Church, with funeral arrangements by DARROCH CREMATION AND FUNERAL TRIBUTES INC., www.darrochfuneralhome.com, and future entombment will take place at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Good Samaritan Hospice office at 116 Browns Hill Road, Valencia, PA 16059.
