It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Katica Jakominich, who peacefully departed this world on February 14, 2024, at the age of 80. She is now reunited with her beloved late husband, Branko Jakominich, in eternal peace.
Katica Jakominich was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. Born in Garica, Croatia, to Anton and Kate Samanic, Katica was the loving sister of Jelica Justic and the late Anton and Josip Samanic.

In 1964, Katica married the love of her life, Branko, with whom she shared a beautiful journey filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. They had a deep passion for music and dancing, and now they are together again, dancing for eternity in the embrace of eternal love. They immigrated to America, determined to provide a better life for their family. Cherry Hill eventually became their cherished home, where they cultivated a haven of warmth and hospitality in that same home for 45 years. Katica's culinary prowess and boundless generosity transformed their household into a sanctuary of delectable aromas and cherished memories, welcoming family and friends alike.

Katica was a devoted mother to her three children: Ksenija "Sandy" Colden (Richard); John Jakominich (Camellia) and Branko Jakominich Jr. (Kimi). Her greatest joy came from spending time with her beloved grandchildren: Kristijan (22), Daniel (19), Matthew (17), and Benjamin (15). She cared for them for the first several years of their lives and always had weekend sleepovers, delighting them with their favorites - "Baba's Soup" and "Baba's cookies". They lit up their Baba's life and were the source of her ever-brightening smile.

Despite the vast ocean separating her from her Croatian roots, Katica remained steadfast in her devotion to family. With an unwavering spirit, her many pilgrimages to Croatia with her husband, children and grandchildren fostered enduring connections and treasured reunions, affirming the enduring power of love and kinship that distance could not break. Katica's pride in her Croatian heritage was palpable, a legacy she imparted to her family with reverence and joy. Those summers spent in her childhood home became cherished traditions, filled with laughter, love, and the rich tapestry of Croatian culture. In that family home on Garica, where her presence still lingers, an indelible imprint of love and hospitality remains. It is a place where memories were made and bonds were strengthened, and where we will all continue to gather, feeling her presence with us, surrounded by the warmth of her love.

A beacon of kindness and compassion, Katica touched the lives of all who knew her. Her selfless nature and boundless love knew no bounds, and she was always there to offer a helping hand to those in need. Though beset by the cruel grasp of dementia for over a decade, Katica's radiant spirit remained undimmed. Her love of music and her infectious smile continued to illuminate the lives of those around her, a beacon of hope and resilience. Katica's legacy of love and generosity will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
