Predeceased by her loving husband Karl (1995), parents Andrija (1991) and Kata (1989), brother Franjo (2018), and half-brother Alois (2011).

Beloved mother of Anton (Margaretha) and John (Michele). Cherished Baka of Jennifer, Megan, Sabina, Spencer, Karl and Sylvia. Loving Grand-Baka of Skylar.

Katica is survived by her half-siblings Bonnie Pavlović O’Dwyer, who lives in the U.S.A., and Tony Pavlović, who lives in Alberta, as well as her nephew Zlatko Pavlović and niece Maja Bukna, who live in Croatia with their families.

In 1936, Katica was born in Mrzović, a village in eastern Croatia. After the war she moved to Vinkovci, a small but historic town - the birthplace of two Roman emperors. From a young age Katica contributed to the family income, working in the fields of this flat, fertile region.

At 19, she left home to work at a jewelery store in Zagreb. She had many fond memories of visiting the local opera and meeting new people.

At the age of 25, Katica made the long journey from Croatia to Canada on her own. Originally travelling by ship to Quebec, and then via train to Saskatchewan, she faced an uncertain future but fell in love and married Karl Neumayer in 1963. They bonded over their similar backgrounds, as Karl had emigrated from modern-day Serbia, which was then part of Yugoslavia, the same as Croatia was. Together they raised their children in Kitchener, instilling in them the values of hard work and devotion to family.

Although she only received an education to the age of 14, Katica was a voracious reader in her youth and adulthood, particularly classic Russian Literature. Katica also had a passion for Old Hollywood. She loved getting lost in stories, both on screen and in books. Donations to the World Literacy Foundation in Katica's honour would be appreciated.

Throughout the ups and downs of her life, Katica remained loyal to her family. Each graduation for her children and grandchildren was a proud moment for her. She taught her grandchildren the pleasure to be found in simple moments, like going for walks or visiting the pet store together.

Her family and friends remember her as a hard worker and a loving mother and grandmother. She will be missed by those who knew her both in Canada and Croatia.
