Lenka Strmich, 92, of West Seattle, died peacefully at her home surrounded by family on August 28, 2021. Lenka was born in Split, Croatia on November 19, 1928.
Lenka married Marion "Mike" Strmich in 1952, and moved to Seattle in 1953. They made their home in West Seattle where they raised their three daughters and Lenka lived until she passed away. Lenka's passions included her Catholic faith, family, and entertaining. She was a lifelong gardener and many were recipients of her flowers and garden produce.
As Lenka became a grandmother she was affectionately known as "Bubby" by many in the community. She was known for walking often, including to daily mass, decorating her house for all of the holidays, and making tubs of spaghetti and soups for her family.
She shared loaves of zucchini bread with many. Lenka was preceded in death by her husband, Marion, in 1983. She is survived by her daughters: Rosie Smathers, Mary Daley, and Susan Strmich, her grandchildren: Michael Smathers, Carrie Cotton, Jerad Daley, and Martha Strmich-Casanova, as well as her great grandchildren: Trevor Smathers and Elyse, Kaelyn, Gabriel, Micah, and Layla Cotton, and Emma and Caleb Daley.
A memorial service will be held for Lenka at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in West Seattle on Tuesday, December 21st at 2:00 PM.
