With sadness in our hearts, but with faith in the resurrection, we announce the passing of our beloved Letizia Salamon in her 100th year on Saturday, March 23rd, 2024.

Letizia Salamon (nee Luksic) was born September 22, 1924 to the late Ivan and Katarina in Tupljak, Istria, Croatia.

At the age of 12, her formal schooling ended and she began working in Rijeka, Croatia. She later moved to Trieste, Italy during the second world war.

In Trieste, she met and married the love of her life, Frank Salamon. They were blessed with the birth of their son, Romeo in 1947. Letizia and Frank were strong believers in education and worked hard to ensure that Romeo would have every educational opportunity. They were overjoyed when he became a chartered accountant.

Letizia, Frank and Romeo emigrated to the United States in 1956, settling first in Brooklyn. They moved to Flushing NY in 1972 and then to Nanuet in 1991 to be closer to her son and his family. Since 2014, Letizia was a resident of Moonachie, NJ.

In the United States, Letizia was employed as a seamstress. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing and keeping active. She went on daily walks to the store and her local church until her mid 90s. Letizia was blessed with very good health up until the last couple of months. Her Faith was ever present throughout her life and she never wavered from her beliefs, despite the hardships she endured.

Letizia is survived by her brother Ivan Luksic and sister-in-law Mary of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada; her sister Ada and brother-in-law Mladen Krapec of Kelowna, BC, Canada; her grandchildren Francesca (Doug) and Nicholas and five great-grandchildren. She is survived by niece Dorothy (Ante) Milardovic, nephew Ivan (Sonja) Luksic who were at her side when she passed.
