She is reunited with her beloved husband George. Loving mother of John (Carmela) and Otto (Tracey). Cherished grandma of Shane, Daniella, Sara-Jane, Adrianna and Shannen (Lawan). She is predeceased by her parents and siblings. She will be missed by her extended family and friends.
Maria Antes, born to Steve and Maria in 1934. Maria survived WWII and escaped war camp at the age of 10 with the aid of her two older brothers Steve and Joe Antes. Both her father and sister Ana died in this camp. She married George at the age of 18, had two sons and immigrated to Canada in 1968. Maria worked at Sears Cafeteria for 20 years where she won many employment awards.
Everyone who knew her, knew how great of a cook she was and an even better baker. She found joy in the simple things: tending to her garden, spending cherished days at the cottage and sharing Sunday dinners surrounded by the love of her family. Losing George was very hard for her, and we find comfort knowing that they are together again. Forever in our hearts. Special thank you to all the hospital staff who provided her compassionate care and support.
