Maria was born in New York City in 1921 and died in Los Angeles in her 100th year, on January 11, 2021. She was the youngest of 9 children whose parents had emigrated from Croatia.
She left New York in 1941 for Michigan to marry Frederick H. Wagner III, with whom she had 5 children. The young family then moved from Michigan to Los Angeles. She was a devoted wife for 65 years, and a stay-at-home mother.
Maria was immensely proud of her family. She forever loved New York, fencing, music and travel. Maria is preceded in death by her siblings, her husband and her first son, Frederick IV. She leaves behind daughters Caroline and Jeanne, sons Peter and Larry, 15 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held later this year. Burial was private. Donations in her memory should be sent to St. John of God Retirement & Care Center, 2468 S. St. Andrews Pl., Los Angeles, CA 90018
