Born on January 25, 1930, in Joliet, Illinois, she was the beloved daughter of the late George and Evelyn (nee Delost) Glad.

She is survived by her loving children: Gerry (Len) Bregar, Jeanne (Chuck) Rapp, Tom (Robin) Fabek, and Tim (Darlene) Fabek. Marie was a devoted grandmother to Joe, Jeff, and Paul (Nicole) Bregar, Mike (Lee) Rapp, Chris (Bryce) Davis, Laura (Jeff) Grozik, Jennifer (Rick) Martin, Tom (Christina), David, and Mark (Alana) Fabek, Nick Fabek, and Stefanie (Jason) Jurasits, and a proud great-grandmother to Dakota, Bode, and Caden Bregar, Tyler and Ella Davis, Madeline and Lacey Grozik, Garrett and Margaret Rapp, Nathan and Hannah Fabek, Alaina Martin, Henry and Ava Jurasits and Luka Fabek as well as her cherished great-great-granddaughter, Paisley Bregar.

She is also survived by her beloved sisters: Norma (Don) Strahanoski, Carol (Carl) Widlowski, and Doris (Mike) Warren, sister-in-law Dolores Fabek, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Marie was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Tom, her parents, and her brothers and sisters-in-law, including George (Rose Ann) Glad, Bill (Irene) Glad, and her sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn (John) Gornick.

A long-time resident of Crest Hill, Marie spent the last 30 years of her life in Lisbon, Illinois. Family was always at the heart of her life; she cherished her time spent with loved ones, whether it was through her passion for baking-where her delicious treats were a staple at family gatherings and bake sales-or through the laughter and joy shared during family get-togethers. Marie was a fierce competitor especially if it involved her grandchildren or great-grandchildren during her much-loved games of euchre and dice, and her love for a good game of Scrabble never waned. She found great pleasure in the fact that even in her later years she could still win.

Marie was actively involved in her community and was a proud member of several organizations, including the Croatian Culture Club, Senior Citizens Association of Joliet, Joannite Seniors of St. Mary Nativity, and the KSKJ.

Marie lived her life to the fullest. She enjoyed spending time with her family whether it was a simple day out shopping and lunch, a dinner out, a play, concert, or an evening at the Croatian Club listening to a Croatian group performing. She was proud of the fact she was able to attend numerous Baptisms, First Communions, birthday parties, graduations and Weddings of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was never one to turn down an invitation. She will be dearly missed.
