Marija Fulir, affectionately known as Baba, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2026, in Columbus, Georgia, at the age of 90. Born on October 3, 1935, in Drašković, Croatia, Marija emigrated to the United States, where she established a legacy of love, resilience, and dedication to her family.

Marija’s career spanned many years at Sporrong in Hässleholm, a reputable Swedish company renowned for producing uniforms and garments for public service. As a skilled seamstress, she took great pride in her craftsmanship, dedicating herself to providing for her family. Her work represented not only a means of livelihood but also her unwavering commitment to excellence and quality.

Beyond her career, Marija found joy and fulfillment in nurturing those around her. She loved to cook for family and friends, and many cherished memories revolved around time spent in the kitchen with her, learning the secrets of her beloved recipes, and the laughs shared around the dinner table. Marija took great joy in teaching her family how to use a sewing machine and shared her passion for gardening, fostering a love for these traditions and solidifying her legacy within her family.

Her personality shone brightly throughout her life. Marija possessed a playful sense of humor and an inviting heart, welcoming everyone into her life. As the matriarch of her family, she was loyal, hardworking, and strong-willed, always prepared for anything life might throw her way. She motivated and supported her family in their dreams, while ensuring they were always fed and comforted. Marija taught her loved ones to find value in all things, to have grace for others and themselves, and to fight for what is right—always with a bit of attitude.

Marija’s hobbies included a deep passion for gardening, pottery, sewing, knitting, and cooking. She generously volunteered as a gardener at Callaway Gardens and devoted her time to caring for many children throughout her life. Her proudest accomplishments reflected her commitment to nurturing both nature and community.

Marija is survived by her son, Mladen Fulir; her granddaughter, Stephanie Fulir; her grandson, Steven Fulir; and her sister, Boža Brkič. She joins in rest her beloved siblings Štef, Vlado, Ivica, Joža, Stanko, and Kristoffer Fulir, along with her sisters Ifka, Štefica, and Marica Fulir. Marija is also preceded in death by her parents, Vid and Magda Fulir.
