On July 15, 2021 Mrs. Marija Hul, age 95, peacefully entered through the gates of Heaven after a brief illness.

Marija was born in Vinkovci, Croatia to the late Franjo and Katarina Suhomeli. Sadly she was recently predeceased by her sister Katarina Bajda. Marija and her late husband Andrij immigrated to the United States in 1952 with their infant daughter. The family completed a year of sponsorship obligation in Altoona, Pennsylvania and then relocated to Bridgeport, Connecticut. Together with her husband they raised and educated four children. Upon the death of her beloved husband Andrij, Marija continued to work as a supervisor in Linen Service at Bridgeport Hospital and also learned to drive to maintain her independence. She eventually retired to Florida where she enjoyed reading, crocheting and spending time with her Florida family. Prior to her Florida retirement Marija and her sister Katarina were the creators of K&M Ukrainian Arts. They created unique original ceramic designs; their work was highly regarded and collected throughout the country.

Marija also had a remarkable talent for embroidery and her handiwork is a treasure trove of Ukrainian artistry. Travel to Europe and Australia to visit family was the highlight of her retirement only second to spending time in Connecticut with her family especially during the holidays. In her later years she kept herself busy with crocheting projects insisting every color be just right.

Her memory will continue to be cherished and honored by her children Irene and Robert Paige, Myron and Natalie Hul, Eugen and Kathleen Hul, and Andrew and Patricia Hul. Her love and goodness will live on in her 8 grandchildren Michelle, Theresa, Alexander, Larissa, David, Robert, Julianna, and Ryan, 5 great-grandchildren Kayla, Rachael, Madison, Ollie, and Anthony, 2 great-great-grandsons Enzo and Ethan.
Friends may visit with her family on Wednesday, July 21st from 9-11 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford. A prayer service will take place at 10:45 a.m. Interment will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Stratford.

Everyone in attendance must follow the current Covid-19 guidelines, wear a mask and practice social distancing.

To view the services via livestream, please visit Adzima Funeral Home on Facebook Live, beginning Wednesday at 10:30 a.m.
