It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Marija Stavlic, age 96 on February 20th, 2025 with her loving family by her side. Marija was born September 8, 1928 in Donje Pazarište, Gospi?, Croatia and emigrated to Canada in 1962 to start a new life and raise her family.

Marija loved her family more than anything and always put them first. She was a proud wife, mother, and Baba (grandmother). All her life, Marija worked hard and in her spare time enjoyed numerous hobbies. She was an avid gardener and an excellent cook and was well known for her special talent in making the best Croatian strudel.

Marija was also a skilled knitter ensuring an endless supply of wool slippers, socks, mitts and scarves for the entire family. Above all, she enjoyed regular visits from family but especially loved the Sunday tradition of the entire family gathering at her home where it was guaranteed you never left empty handed or hungry. Most notably, Marija was a woman of strong faith and a devout Catholic that engaged in regular worship praying for her family and others. She will always be remembered for her sage words of wisdom, quick wit, keen sense of humour, and for her generous spirit and strong dedication to her family.

Marija was predeceased by her husband Luka, parents Karlo and Marija Krpan, siblings (Kata, Manda, Joso, Anka), grandsons baby Jason and Ivica, and niece Tera.

Marija is survived by her five children Anne (Marijan), Nick (Barb), Tony, Emily (Michael), Mary (John), eight Grandchildren, Katica (Tvrtko), Shawn, (Shannon), Tanya (Jordy), Tara (Corey), Ivan, Luka (Emily), Matthew and Tomas, and six great grandchildren Luka, Mila, Emma, Jaxon, Harper and Evvy. Marija is also survived by nieces and nephews (Joso, Ivan, Ana) in Thunder Bay and other relatives in Croatia.
